September challenge

I decided to try the 30 day challenge again. It is a good way to maintain your skills. I had a hard time thinking of a theme this time, but finally settled on one of my all time favorite things to paint. Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls. These will take me longer as they are a little more complicated than what I have done in the past so one a day may be a bit much, but I'm ready to go.
Thanks for doing this again Leslie.
Here is Day 1, which I will post on the site tomorrow. This is an oil pastel, 8" x 8" on uArt paper

OTB

"At the Beach" is my entry to the North River Society's outside the box exhibit/auction. All entries are nameless during the several weeks of bidding. The bidding is over and the names are now on the paintings, which can be seen this week before the closing party on Friday.
This is done with gouache.

Painting again

Well, it certainly has been a long time since I posted here. A lot has happened in the interim, but I am back to my studio now and getting back to work. Our studio art group is having a mini show for members in conjuction with Gallery 4s Summer Show. It is themed "Idions" and the person in charge gave me the idiom "don't put all your eggs in one basket". I started my entry last

week and here are 2 progress images.
I am having fun with this despite all the value changes.

Day 9

Well, I finally managed to get another painting done...switched it over to ducks.

May still get more boats done.....as I have some more I want to do. Hospital scheduled for Feb. 3.

Day 8

Seems like I keep falling further and further behind. The nurses who will be monitoring my new medication are coming today to discuss this. I am so ready for this.
This is a watercolor I did a few years ago from one of my favorite boat haunts. 9 x 12 on 300 LB arches. Not sure what the rest of the week will bring, but hope to get some more done.

Day 7

Here is today's entry. Somehow I will catch up, maybe next week. This is 8" x 8"  oil pastel on gessoed hardboard. I'm having a get together with my former art teachers tomorrow...always a fun time.

It was almost dark taking this picture so I'll try to get a better one tomorrow.

Day 4

I really didn't think I would finish this, but here it is. I may go back and tweak it some as I was fighting with the surface, not as smooth as I like it.
6" x 6" oil pastel on gessoed hardboard. Used my own gesso and it has a lot of texture.

Day 3

This seemed fitting for today. 16" of snow on the ground and bitter cold.

Day 1

I have signed up to do the 20 paintings in 30 days challenge by Leslie Saeta. It was a lot of fun last year and even though I will be working from home this month, I hope to get them done. I have chosen to do boats, and am still gathering pictures.

I am cheating a little as I finished this before I got sick.....but it is a start.
